CT Certification

Anyone know why hospitals are now requiring ARRT certification for CT Techs? Is it because Medicare now requires it? I thought I had heard that somewheres....

It may also be the accreditation of the CT scanner. At our office we accredited through the ACR, and only registered technologists are allowed to operate the scanner.

My supervisor had informed us last year that those of us who do do CT would have to take our boards because of Medicare. Don't know why, they don't pay for anything anyway! That's why I have been looking at review stuff to help with taking the boards. To old to test again! LOL!
