Laurens VS Skyline patella views?
Oct 4 2010, 6:24 PM EDT | Post edited: Oct 4 2010, 6:24 PM EDT
Hey eveeryone, I am a first year student, and was wondering if anyone can tell me the main difference between Laurens and Skyline views for the patella? I cant find any information about Laurens views but it is one of my clinical protocols.

Many thanks

Hi avidkeo,
There is a table of axial patellar techniques on this page http://www.wikiradiography.com/page/The+Skyline+Patella+Projection. I suspect the terms skyline and sunrise are generic terms referring to the axial projection of the patella. Hughston, Merchant and Laurin/Lauren are specific axial patellar techniques.

Hi, I am also a radiography student. I was wondering if we could differentiate the axial patellar technique used (like Laurin and Merchant) with a resulted film. In other words, is there any difference between the appearances of films taking with Laurin and Merchant? Do you find this valuable?
