What should be the criteria of mobile chest x-ray. 1  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

As far as I've been taught and work, the criteria are the same as for normal CXR requests, but with the caveat that the patient cannot attend the department for valid clinical reasons. Of course, what constitutes a valid clinical reason will vary from site to site...
The main issues I think are radiation protection (no barium plaster etc. up on the wards) and reduced diagnostic quality of resultant images (mobile units have larger anode angles for better short FFD coverage, as such larger effective focal spots, and often have reduced output or longer exposure times).
The way I decide, someone's peri-arrest or on wall mounted suction or the like and has a valid need for a CXR (change in contition, reduced O2, etc) = mobile CXR. Someone needs a CXR but the ward can't spare someone to come down with them = nope.
Do you find this valuable?

Are you asking about critiquing an optimum mobile chest radiograph, or what criteria should be met to perform a chest x-ray portably as opposed to in the radiology department? Do you find this valuable?
