One of the things I try and do first off is talk the parent into allowing me to take the child without them. Some parents are ok with this, some are not. It is touchy. I have noticed though, that kids have a tendency to "preform" when the parent is visible. In most cases, even if there is an identifiable pathology, they are better behaved than most adults. A strip of tape and a sponge and you are set. As I said, this isn't always an option, but it is something to consider. Do you find this valuable?
