Ultrasound scanning guidelines
Assessment of twin pregnancy Additional features that should be documented in twin pregnancies:
- Gender
- Number of placentae
- Presence of a seperating membrane between sacs
- Nature of membrane/placenta junction (presence/absence of "twin peak" sign)
- Subjective assessment of membrane thickness
- Relative size of amniotic sac volumes (deepest pool or two quadrant AFI)
- Relative size of twins (significant discrepancy is 20% difference in EFW or greater than 20mm difference in AC)
If monochorionic pregnancy or Twin-Twin Transfusion Syndrome is suspected
- Perform a more detailed assessment
