- Defenition: is a genetic disorder caused by the presence of all or part of an extra 21st chromosome. It is named after John langdon Down, who described it in 1866.
- The disorder was identified as a chromosome 21 trisomy by Jérôme Lejeune in 1959. see history site
- Clinical: The condition is characterized by a combination of major and minor differences in structure.Often Down syndrome is associated with some impairment of cognitive ability and physical growth as well as facial appearance.

Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome
- Definition : The median arcuate ligament is a fibrous arch that unites the diaphragmatic crura on either side of the aortic hiatus. The ligament usually passes superior to the origin of the celiac axis. However, in some people, the ligament inserts low and thus crosses the proximal portion of the celiac axis, causing compression and sometimes resulting in abdominal pain.
