Paediatric Hip for Developmental Dysplasia (DDH)


This examination may be diagnostic or for the monitoring of the joint during treatment with a Pavlik harness

Diagnostic Examination

Assess:

  • Both hips
  • Hips adequately enlocated in acetabulum
  • Hip joint anatomy in coronal and transverse planes

Documentation:
  • Coronal with legs extended, minimum of three views with at least one measurement of d:D
  • Transverse with legs extended x 1

In Harness Examination

Assess:
  • Both hips with baby prone in harness
  • Confirm that hips are adequately enlocated in acetabulum
Documentation:
  • Longitudinal from posterior, minimum of three views
  • Transverse from posterior x 1
