Shielding Lead Apron (check your department's policy guidelines)
Respiration Normal breathing
Positioning
  • Removal all metal, plastic and removable objects (dentures, earrings, hair clips, glasses etc)
  • Patient erect or seated
  • Guide patient into OPG unit, resting chin on bite block
  • Have patient stand in close with spine straight (don't aloow head and neck to stretch foward)
  • Adjust chin rest until IOML is aligned parrallel with floor
  • Align midsagittal plane with the vertical centre line of the chin rest
  • Position bite block between patients front teeth
  • Instruct patient to place lips together and position tongue on roof of mouth
  • Explain to patient how the tube will rotate around them and the time it will take
